Africa Moments

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Africa, but sifting through and editing 2000 pictures is no easy task. I’ve also wanted to take advantage of Oslo’s wonderful weather, so it hasn’t been my number 1 priority. Speaking of priorities, college applications have to be finished this fall and I am FREAKING OUT!! I have no idea how I’m going to get through this fall alive… But on a positive note, I always have these pictures to look back on :) Think of these as a “sneak peak” of all the wonderful posts that are coming up. Enjoy!

Beware! Elephant crossing! This was taken as we were driving through Erindi Private Game Reserve towards the lodge.

Typical African landscape (through the eyes of the media)

Giraffes eat these 3cm long thorns. I tried to break one once, but it was impossible. These could easily pierce through our skin. Incredible!

Waking up to this on the Okavango River in a house boat. What you can’t see here is that there were a herd of hippos making grunting and honking noises, birds chirping, and elephants roaming on the other side of the river.

Sunrise on the Okavango river.

Driving in rural Zambia. Taken on our way to the capital, Lusaka. We have seen some of the craziest things roadside…

Victoria falls seen from Zimbabwe.

The wonderful Victoria falls seen from Zambia.

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. The beautiful Ilha de Moçambique with turquoise waters and old buildings used to be the center of Portugese colonialism in Mozambique. Today it is a beautiful, albeit run down, town that exudes history and memories at every corner.

A tree growing “inside” a building in Ilha de Moçambique.

Sailing across the ilha de Moçambique bay to coral lodge on a dowa.

Watching the sun set on our last night from Central Café on Ilha de Moçambique.

Drama on the rocks in ilha.

Taken while driving over the causeway between Ilha and the mainland.
