The night started with Champagne and appetizers at Nergiz’ stylish Frogner apartment. Presents and smiles were abundant (and those salty/sweet almonds that I adore so much). Everyone was wonderfully dressed up.We like wearing pretty things. If it were up to me, I would wear this everyday. As the mandatory birthday pictures were taken, we all felt like we had just taken botox, waiting forever for the picture to be taken, and feeling our smiles turn from natural to stiff. Like I said, practically botox… A few empty glasses later we strolled down the, dare I say, hazardous stairs, and walked slowly to the restaurant. Slowly because most of us were wearing our finest “sitting shoes” ie beautiful to look at but far from practical. Luckily the restaurant was 50 meters down the street.
Now lets get on to the topic of food. As many of you know, this is a topic I enjoy very much. Nergiz’ mom knows the owner of Mares so we got a wonderful table. Best of all, the food was practically to die for. For starters we had an assortment of tartars; main, salmon with fennel and anis-seed sauce, and finally for dessert, tiramisu ice cream with cherry compote.
I have to say, this was an incredible night with some amazing friends. Unfortunately I had my ACT’s the next day so I couldn’t party afterwards, but I don’t regret a second of it. In case you’re wondering, the ACT’s went well. Hopefully I increase my score.
Happy birthday to Nadine, Maud, and Nergiz. This is for you. ~Nora
Happy birthday Maud, Nergiz, and Nadine!
